Hey guys a big thankyou to ones that have helped me out with issues so far and bike looks to be running a fair bit better, but the next problem I have is even when the bike is just running the speedometer is changing from 30 or so kph up to 399kph while its just sitting there ? ODO kms are climbing too and that's pita as I don't know how many kms I have done on this bike now since I got it. Im thinking earth problem or speedometer sensor ? any input would be great cheers guys. Steve.

That would be my starting point also. Checking and cleaning all ground connections. I am not sure what the speed sensor type that unit has but that would be the second area I would investigate.

Good job. You've got a lot going on there and does look like the wiring could use a little tidying up.

Go to a hardware or Electrical Supply store and get some Dielectric Grease and put it in all those plug in's , it will help keep moisture off of the connections and keep any corrosion from compromising the connection again ... ;)

Yeah I was going to mention the grease.
Every bike I rode in the '70s early '80s had grease in plugs or the older twist connector tubes.

Must have saved a fortune when they manufacturers stopped using it.
Real handy if you tend to ride creek crossings or mud.

Sorted out the birds nest and cleaned all connections with contact cleaner then blew out with compressed air then light smear of the dielectric grease. Good advice as usual from Jim and Neil =DD
