    450x rear wheel lacing

    by jnewsom76 » Mon Apr 28, 2014 9:04 pm

I ordered a new 18" rim and spokes for my 2005 450x. The spokes come in 2 sizes. Do the short spokes go on the sprocket side and long on the brake? I did this and started tightening them evenly. Well it doesn't seem right so far. on each side some are tight and some are loose. Am I supposed to switch back and forth with the long and short spokes on both sides?

Any help would be appreciated. The youtube videos make it look easy but it has not been for me. Frustrating...

If you look at the hub it has angled holes some are on the outside edge (closer to the sprocket and brake) and some are on the inside (closer to the center of the hub) , the longer spokes go in the inner holes , the shorter ones to the outside , as mentioned, the holes are directional , so it will guide you to where the spoke needs to go in the rim as the holes are directional in the rim as well , if you have to force the spoke in a hole , its not in the right place or at the right angle
