Has anyone out there changed there clutch perch for a aftermarket one , I want to know if I can just connect the wires for the safety switch for the starter or will it run battery down , just don't want the standard bulky one

I still use the OEM perch , but as far as i know , none of the aftermarket ones allow for the cutoff switch mount , what everyone does when using the aftermarket perches is to connect the 2 wires together , you can get a flat connector at a auto parts store that will go into each connection so you dont have to cut the plugs , then use shrink wrap to cover the joint It wont wear the battery down , the only time the connection is present is when you use the starter button , its basically the same switch that is present (i assume they use them over there) on the clutch on your car with a manual transmission , it basically interrupts the power from the start button to the starter relay

But if you want to retain the start switch , then you are pretty much stuck with the OEM lever as far as i know , also if you retain the Hot Start lever on the aftermarket perch , it will still be "bulky" , so you could keep the stock switch and perch and get a Hot Start Relocation Mount that moves the Hot Start over to the Throttle side of the bars if that will help any , or get a aftermarket perch and move the Hot Start lever , then you will really UN-bulk that side

On a side note , if breakage is a worry from falling , take some white Teflon Thread Tape , and wrap it several times on the bar where the perch goes , so when you tighten down the perch , it will spin in the event of a crash , you need to wrap it about 10 times or more
