My '05 X will not start cold. I adjusted the intake valves to spec., and the exhaust valves and de-compressor are within spec. Pulled the carb, and cleaned the starter jet and all the other jets and passages. Installed new plug, and it appears there is no fuel getting to the chamber. I removed the choke knob and cranked the bike and there appears to be no fuel coming through the orifice? Could the fuel passage be blocked even though I blew it out. Any help would be appreciated.

jets are very difficult to clean to new condition. recommendation is to replace them. make sure fuel is making it to the bowl. verify float height is correct. check AP squirt for a long and strong spray to the middle of the intake port divider. make sure the hot start is functioning. if it is stuck open this will lean out the mixture. cold motors prefer rich mixtures. don't test with your e-start. kick it to save your starter and battery. a properly functioning crf motor with the correct start technique will start in 2-3 kicks.

Like Ken sez, jets are tough to clean, especially the pilot jet, which is almost always the source of your starting problem.

Cold gas atomizes more poorly also.
A perfectly tuned motor will still start more slowly at 30 degrees than 80.
