IMS 4 Gallon Tank

Hey does anyone run the 4 gallon IMS tank on a 05 CRF450X, I was wonder how they liked it and if the stock shrouds fit well on it.
Pondering 3.2 gallon vs 4.0 gallon tank.
Any advice?

I think you may have the tanks mixed up here. The 4.0g IMS tank incorporates the shrouds into the gas tank (hence the larger volume). The IMS 3.2g uses stock shrouds, which is what myself and many others prefer to use.
As for fit etc, the 4.0g tank fits 'well'. The shrouds have no support system, which causes some movement when riding if your looking for it. The tank mounts to the frame via 2 90* angle brackets that you install once the tank is on the bike, to hold the tank from going upwards. It also has the rear strap setup (OEM).
If you are really looking to hold that much capacity look into the Acerbis tank, it's cleaner looking and mounts far more securely.
Between track, trails, and desert; i've found the IMS 3.2g to be more than enough.
It's worth mentioning that IMS stands behind their products; whereas Clarke does not... Nor are their 3.4g tanks worth rocking that nut smacker for two tenths of a gallon more volume.

The IMS 3.2 gallon has been enough for most of my rides. I have to say that without a doubt IMS stands behind their tanks! Had a crack develop in mine after a couple of years and they replaced it. Great people!

You might want to look at the Acerbis 4.4 tank too. Super clean install and has shut off valves on both sides. Great when you are the fuel tanker for the day also makes sure that you get every drop out of it when it really matters.

How far do you plan on riding ?? , if your planning to just ride off-road , the 3.2 will be plenty and wont over weigh the front of the bike , remember about 8 lbs per gallon , so that extra gallon will be noticed , where the 3.2 is hardly noticeable as far as weight and feel go
I use a 3.2 (IMS) and i can ride anywhere i plan on going in a day in the woods or in the desert , if your going to Dual Sport , you still might be fine with the 3.2 unless you plan on long trips , then the 4.0 would be better

most of us will run out of gas with the IMS 3.2G before the tank does.

I get roughly 140 miles from my Acerbis tank. I'd guess 110ish from the IMS 3.2

I do believe that the Acerbis tank is a 4.1g not a 4.4g BTW.
I will agree however that the Acerbis tank is a very sharp looking tank in my opinion.
If you do go with the IMS or Acerbis tank, i'd recommend running some radiator guards of some sorts to hold the radiators in place.

I'm running the Mohard Radiator guards, they fit with no modifications - tank and guards.
