    2005 450x transmission woes

    by keetdiz » Wed Aug 28, 2013 12:39 pm

So a week ago I went out riding with a friend and I threw the chain while the bike was almost at the rev limiter in 1st gear. It was pretty violent, breaking the front chain guard off and binding up to the point I had to remove my swing arm just to get it out. When I finally got the bike back together and took it out for a spin it wont shift into 3rd, 4th, or 5th, and when I shift up from 2nd I go straight into neutral. I'm hoping it just knocked the clutch out of adjustment but I fear the worst. help me out!?!?! [/code]

Its possible that you bent the shift fork , but its going to have to come apart , you are going to have to split the cases (complete tear down)no matter what ..... sorry...

    Wow - that stinks.
I suspect the shifter shaft is bent over the shifter fork.
Like Mr. JD stated - it's not an easy fix. Bummer...

definitely something you'll have to split the cases to determine what's damaged. bummer!

I had a similar kind of incident. I found the shifter shaft bent and had to replace it.

    good luck
