    handle bar risers

    by barryam » Thu Jan 29, 2009 7:22 pm

I have a 07 crf 450x and im looking to put some bar risers on it because im 6' 4" and i could use them a little higher when im standing so i was wondering if ne one has them and could give me any advise on what to do. I know they have the raised clamps and also have bars that have a slight rise to them i dont want to get both and have to much so just looking for suggestions from someone who has done this.

i'm 6'3" and feel your pain all but 1" of it that is. i've got SUB mounted stabilizers on my bikes and this raises the bar mounts 1" and then I go with the Pastrana FMX Pro Taper Countour bar. This help tremendously. Also, get the Fastway F5 or F6 pegs and mount them in the low-boy position for 1/2" drop in pegs location. Together this is about as good as it gets for us trees. speaking of trees, you'll still have to keep an eye out for low hanging branches...there's nothing on the market to raise those!

we stock all of these products in our online catalog so help yourself. ;-)

I have this set up plus a submount riser and the difference is huge.

I'm 6'3" (both my height and my circumference). I have the same setup as nminus1.

Doesn't seem like much when you add up the gains on paper, but it makes a big difference. My buddy has a 450R with stock setup and we switched bikes during a ride one day. I felt hunched over quite a bit when I stood up on his bike compared to my bike.

I just added a set of bar risers from Rocky Mountain that work great and are only $20. I am 5'11" and I like a little higher bar when I stand to ride. Keeps my arms bent more and takes the pounding off my elbows.

The risers + cr-hi bend bars were cool, but swapping the risers for a sub mount GPR V4 was the TICKET!!!!!!

Next move is the aforementioned pegs, maybe a taller cushier desert seat afterwards!

I'm 6'7" and know exactly what you mean. This is what put on my 06' crf250r and made a huge difference:

    1. SDG 1" tall seat
    2. 40 mm adjustable handlebar risers

I'd start with the risers which are less expensive.

    Good luck!

I'm not seeing it...how does the GPR V4 stabilizer raise the bars 3/4"? Is it simply because the stabilizer comes with taller bar clamps so it can mount underneath the bar?

Those look to be about 30mm risers in those pics to allow the stabilizer under the bars

Okay. I was thinking the stabilizer "kit" came with the appropriate risers. The description on the manufacturer website says that the V4 stabilizer raises the bars about 3/4". I guess it should have said requires the bars to be raised about 3/4". The photo of the V2 is shown with risers, but the V4 photo only shows the damping assembly.
