Clarke vs IMS Tanks?

I see a lot of guys recommend IMS tanks here, but I also see a Clarke 3.4 gallon tank around for about $35 cheaper than the IMS 3.2 gallon.
Is there something wrong with Clarke, or would either brand be fine? If they are different, what is it that makes the IMS better?

Thanks in advance!

The IMS just looks alot better and does not have the big Volcano on it where the gas cap is. The Clarke is Fugly

And IMS stands behind their products. I've had zero problems with mine, well built you get what you pay for, excellent fit too.

I'll bet the Clark tanks are pretty well made, they've sure been around a long time.
However, that "volcano"Skoot's talking about has GOT to cost them a lot of sales, it sure crosses me of the list of potential customers. Doug

I have IMS on my bike and Clarke on my sons. I don't see any difference in quality at all. I have to agree on the appearance issue though.

I don't understand why they don't use the stock gas cap??? I have the nice after market cap that will have to be tossed in the garbage if I get a bigger tank. Man that is stupid.

Thanks for all the pics guys. The IMS does look a lot better without that volcano, I will probably end up going that route.
The Clarke is cheaper though, which had me thinking...

About the gas cap. I am running the stock Honda cap on my IMS tank and it fits fine and does not leak. The cap that comes with the IMS tank is kind of cheap looking to me, so I put the Honda cap on and made sure it didn't leak, and no problem, no leaks. Try it out.

interesting, i never even thought to try my stock cap, i know it was differant from my 01 CR 250 cap because i had an aftermarket one on it. Ill have to try my x cap on the IMS.

I put the stock X cap on my IMS 3.2 tank and it works good, no leaks or anything.
I had a Clarke on my Husky, it was good quality and I never had a problem with it.
I have yet to find out if I can get 100 miles out of the 3.2 tank at race pace though. I know I can get close when prerunning. I hate walking,(especialy in a race), and I don't like to "beg" gas from someone. I may go for the next size up tank from IMS.
