    BOG DOWN

    by ocliff4 » Tue Jan 30, 2007 9:56 am

I have a 06 450x,I just opened the air box and removed
the baffel from the muffler, went out riding the bike runs
great except for when I open the throttle too quick it
bogs out or stalls.it runs fantastic in the high rpm range.
do I need to change jets if so which one would be the best??

Take a look at the JD Kit. A lot of the X owners use them and love 'em. I use it myself and am very happy. There are some other mods you can do too (pink wire, fuel screw, updgraded air filter, quickshot, etc.) Do a search...there is a ton of info on those things here. I'll look for some links.

Good web site but way harder. Loosen the carb clamps, rotate the carb. Remove the float bowl drain. The main sits right there. Most guys here will tell you to buy a JD kit. I will also . Makes things a lot simpler.

While you are doing your jetting, and if you get the JD kit, do the o-ring AP mod at the same time. It is the best bang for the buck for the throttle-snap bog, after getting the jetting right.

If you get the JD kit, it comes with it. Basically you install a small rubber o-ring over the accelerator pump actuating arm that will change the timing of that event. There is a delay gap built in and the o-ring will affect that gap timing.
    Here's a little light reading:
