leaky main seal on a newbies bike

    by AussieE » Wed Jan 24, 2007 2:18 am

    Hey Guys
    A newby here
I was pointed in your direction as I have an 05 CRF450X
and the other day I went down to the shed and noticed a nice little puddle of oil dripping from behind the front sprocket.and another from the front left fork leg but thats no drama serviceing the forks now anyway.
But my questions is how big of a job is the counter shaft seal to do?is it just remove the front sprocket pick out the main seal and tap a new one in or is it a drama job?and blow by blow steps would be good if anybody has done one.
Cheers for any help.and a nice place ya got here, for a CRF owner!

No issues doing this one. It's pretty easy just as you described. Remove the seal and tap in another. Just pay attention to the disassembly and make sure to reassemble the parts in order.

    Not much involved really...good luck.

That seal is really easy. 20-30 min job (2-3 beers). And welcome to the site.
