Changing the Pilot Jet: Float Bowl Removal Necessary?

Hey gang, I want to go up one size on the pilot. Will it be more easily accomplished with removing the float bowl, or is it easy enough (with standard tools) to do it with the bowl still on. Changing the main jet was hard enough with the carb attached and float bowl still on. I can only imagine that reaching the pilot will be even more difficult.

It can be done through the 17mm drain plug. Its a bit harder to do than the main because it is a slotted head and its higher up in the carb body.
I found a tool that works well.

One more question. Will I need to adjust the needle position after going up on the pilot? (45 to 48 pilot) I know I will need to adjust the fuel screw (currently at 2.5 turns out)

No,
needle stays the same. Most likely the fuel screw will go down to 1 1/4 to 1 1/2.

No,
