Is there riding near Mesa Marin still?

Probably not where you are referring to. That whole area has changed. Mesa is gone. There is a place close to that off Breckenridge and Comanche that is still open.
I ride there a lot.

Let me chime in with a question of my own for the Bakersfield contingent.
I live in Kingsburg. About an hour North of Bakersfield.
In terms of central valley off road riding (that is excluding places like Gorman, Hollister, Clear Creek, Carnegie which are really not valley locations) are there some good places left to ride off road without having to make the trip east to the desert?
Any you would suggest. I am part of a pretty good sized group (a dozen or more) from Kingsburg that are always on the look out for great places to ride.
Thanks for the help.

Strangely I have not been doing much local riding. There is the place on the edge of town, but it is more a fun place. I know that there are places in the mountains surrounding Bakersfield, but I haven't ridden them. PM Skoot22 and ask that question. He posted a ride in the local area above Bakersfield that looked pretty good. I am hoping he will get transferred back so I can make that loop with him.

There is the Hume Lake OHV area, although I have not been able to get up there. If you do give us a report.

That's right. They have a spot called Hollywood Hills, I think. There's going to be a WORCS race there this year.
There's Ballinger Canyon too.

I've been all over the trails up at Hume. Nice, fun place. Not much by the way of challenging, but beautiful nonetheless.
Thanks for all the responses. Any way you could get a little closer on location. Name of place is good, but off whatever highway it/they are off would really help.

If you ride the gullys out east of town you can still string a half way decent ride together especially if you cross to the east side of Comache(if you can avoid the trash)
