Colorado Off Road Racing and Riding Scene??

    by bmtz14 » Thu Jan 18, 2007 5:21 pm

My wife dropped the bomb on me and wants to move to Colorado. I've been looking online and can't seem to find any racing or riding up there, that compares to Southern California. I don't think I could handle moving somewhere without riding opportunities. Can somebody tell me what the riding/off-road racing scene is like in Colorado? BTW-The area she wants to move to is between Colorado Springs and Denver.

I lived in Colorado for a couple of months during winter. One of the nicest states there is. Can't say much bad about it at all.

No worries. I live in Colorado and we have some of the best riding in the country. I'm not sure if it's like SoCal but you will find something to ride. Do some searches for:

    Rampart Range
    Woodland Park
    Grandby
    OHV Colorado

At worse case, if the move happens just PM some of us here in CO and we'll meet up and show you around.

Great post, thanks. I have been wanting to ride some different states and CO is very high on the list. I started a list of bookmarks with riding info in the different areas and all of these went into the CO folder!

I am in La Junta Colorado right now. I will ask around and see what i can find out too. I'm sure this time of year there is not a whole lot going on due to all the snow. ~ Scott

Tons of great riding in Colorado. I would put the Taylor Reservoir area on the list. Probably about a 3.5 hour drive from Colorado Springs. Its a little north east of Gunnison. Excellent RV park if you bring a toy hauler. They also have cabins you can rent but reserve in advance because they book quickly. You could ride for several days and not see the same trail twice. Also has plenty of good trails for the kids.
