    GOT MY FORKS DONE

    by OLDFATGUY » Sun Jan 14, 2007 5:49 am

OK, I did it. I took my forks to a local guy (1 hour away) His name is Buddy. He has WOODS PRO SUSPENSION (no website). He is 56 years old and has been riding racing all his life. He is a tool and die man, has his own machine shop and is a really cool guy. He used to race professional (factory ride) flat track in the 70's. He has a son that rides in the WORCS series. Anyway, he rides the same terrain that I ride on a weekly basis, and is very fast. Many local guys recommmened him to me. So I gave him a shot. He uses the stock showa pistons,(he said they flow great)then does a complete revavle. He also changed my ICS springs inside the chambers. He polished my tubes and replaced my seals. He said my guides were ok. He used Slikolene fork oil. I put them back on, but with the ice storms it is gonna be awhile before I can test them. OFG

This sounds strikingly familiar! That is basically what I had done, except the Silkolene. House of Horsepower uses an oil manufactured by the company that sells to Race Tech, but this is the good stuff that Race Tech is too cheap to pay for! The ICS spring change can be immediately felt, and makes each click on the tuners do a lot more than stock. The shock got the same treatment... stock pistons, 10mm spacer to lengthen the rear shock, thus raising the rear of the bike to aid in turning. I can't wait to ride!!! We are supposed to get more snow in a couple days.
