    Valve Issues, Let's settle it

Ok, if YOU have ever had a valve problem on YOUR 2005 or Newer CRF450X, please post your problem here. Oh, and I'm not talking about adjustments either.

Yes, I have a valve problem with my 2005 450X! It is not requiring the massive amounts of attention that I was assured that it would, and , frankly, I am pissed. I want a weak valve train so I will have something to do. What the hell was Honda thinking by building something that refuses to live down to the expectations of all of the pundits?

As I mentioned in the other thread, I had a problem with my front valve stem after riding aways with a flat tire.

    What did you expect? :D

The only true problem the X models have with valves is this hollow banter about a problem that hasn't seemed to exist.

One problem we won't be able to identify is the true cause of any problems that are mentioned. Most of the problems that come up are a result of contamination (dirt) going through the intake.

I'm starting to see a trend here. I too had valve trouble.

I had to end up replacing the whole tube with a MSR Ultra Heavy duty after the valve tore completely off.

Maybe there is something to this "Valve Issue".

I think the Valve problem happens when a black hole at its inner most point is creating a vortex of dust particles that swirl thru time and space entering your fresh air filtration container at warp velocity due to the improperly greased orofice at the center of the inbound centrifuze , which suck(im using the laymens term here to eliminate confusion) the particles into the Valve holding chamber located at the uppermost center of the vehicles reactor , ,it then fuzes the dust particles to the Valve retaining orofice , causing superheated gasses to FUZE the intergalactic dust particles to the retaining orofice ,causing comeplete meltdown of the reactor chamber ,and complete fuzion of the Valve retaining orofice, necessitating the entire vehicle to be transported back to H.O.N.D.A for a complete recharge(No Warranty so it has to be recharged) of the Valve induction system, , this problem has been under investigation by H.O.N.D.A , but it was determined to be a non criticle malfunction and currently no launch delays or current production recalls are forseen in the near future ! ;)

I'm not too worried about the true cause of any valve problems. I'd just like to see if any truely exist. Personally I've been on these boards since a couple months after the X came out. I can only recall one valve train problem and one motor failure..... There have come and gone a lot of X owners in that time.......

As for the valve stem, mine is flawless as well. Try running air in the tube, or see the discussion on which gas from the table of elements is best to run.

As far as I know it was only a problem up to 2004.

Honda admitted there was no problem.

I have been told unofficially by a Honda representative that the Valve seat material was changed to improve the engine for 2005, but it wasn't because of what happened to some 2004 models.

None here. Not on the X,not on the R.I checked the R at 10 hours and they were perfect.
I'd like to interview some of the guys who set them on the assembly line, too, so they can respond to people who claonm their bikes were of a quarter inch when brand ne,etc.
How about a poll,Smash ? Like, how many hours on your bike, have you ever even had to adjust one, etc. Doug

My valves completely failed on my '06. The same day, coincidentally, my Glock 22 exploded because it has an unsupported chamber. I was going to take a picture of both the X and the Glock with my D2H, but its meter unexpectedly failed, like they all do.

The only problem I have had w/ my X is that she is still alive.

But no, I haven't had any valve problems.

The only problem I had was shelling out cash to have the dealer check them and they did not need to be checked.
