Intake boot

Anybody know what the little tunnel on the bottom of the intake boot is for?

Close Agent very close!
Its the escape hatch for the little miners so they dont get sucked into the motor at start up!
Or maybe just A drain hole for oil/water etc.
its A toss-up,
