I cant speak for anyone else, but if I lived in a house that was below sea level with levee's that were known to be in bad shape and in Hurricane country, I would keep an eye on the weather. If a hurricane moved west accross the Florida peninsula and into the warm water Gulf where it sat for three days gaining strength I would think about leaving.

O.K., I have been quiet long enough! The bottom line is: Nobody wants to be taken advantage of, especially when it comes to finances. I guess I get frustrated when I see both parents getting their child from school at noon, knowing we just fed their child breakfast and lunch, on the taxpayer, and dinner will be with food stamps. Two parents that are capable of working, choose not to, so that much more comes out of my check each month. That is NOT what our welfare system is for! It is not cool to make fun of people who are the victim of unfortunate circumstances. I do not feel like this was occurring here. Victims of a natural disaster are just that, victims. But when they sit on their butts all day, and do NOTHING to help themselves, and then gripe at the government, I get frustrated! I also get frustrated when you can get a lower interest loan, or free college, or free housing, all because you are a "minority". This continues in California, although Caucasians are now officially a minority in California(and CERTAINLY do NOT get the same "courtesy" shown traditional minority groups)! America was once the land of opportunity, now it is the land where you can get free stuff! (O.K., that was a little harsh  ). If you are an honest, hard working AMERICAN (legally!!), you deserve help in times of need, but you better give help when someone beside you is less fortunate, or we lose out on what makes us intelligent human beings.

Just as the dust seems to be clearing on this topic, I'm getting fired up. As our government is moving ever closer to socialism, there will be an increasing sense of entitlement - that is people expecting something for nothing. Somehow a large segment of the population feels something is owed to them. Many of them do nothing to contribute, but only take (everything they can get). The government to them is some entity with endless resources, not a society where all must contribute to exist. Just as looters in Los Angeles riots described the items they stole as "free", they take from the government the "free" handouts that are available. To them it is free - they don't contribute.

Of course there are people legitimately in need of help, whether it be in New Orleans or Colorado. The social programs were created with good intentions, but the system is horribly flawed. There is little emphasis on weaning welfare recipients off the programs. ............. I'm going to stop here since I haven't mentioned the word Honda once and last time I looked this is a CRF forum. Sorry for the rant. Might have gone on for 10 or 12 pages.

Well I have just spent 15 mins reading all the above, you guys really amuse me! I hope Agent doesn't sleep for too long and gets right back into the thick of this one.

While we are at it, does anyone have any opinions on ethnic differences and religion and how that tends to segregate the community. In 2005 we had some pretty big racial riots in Cronulla Sydney that were sparked by non locals Middle Eastern men going to the Cronulla Beach and calling the girls in bikinis sl_ts. There was also a bashing of 3 volunteer surf life savers be the same ethnic group. The locals (predominantly anglo saxon aussie males) had been subjected to this for a long while and had enough, the Police seemed to do nothing, so the locals ran these guys out of town.

I can tell you one thing, if these ethnic groups want others to respect their culture and beliefs they better be prepared to accept ours as well. We have been going to the beach and having fun for ever here, bikinis will stay, and if they touch our girls or clubbies (Surf Life Savers) again they will get to really know what it is like to be on the receiving end of a Jihad! We might seem relaxed here, but we don't take any ..
