I wonder if the BNG on the new ones fixes this problem?...

I have not actually done this one yet, but I was told from a very reliable source that it does work & yes you will need a longer bolt.

Thanks for adding the part, but if it is made out of the same cheesy pot metal it won't last any longer... just an observation.

I'm currently making one out of titanium, I know it's overkill but what the heck... It should make me MUCH faster!...

i'll be interested in hearing how the titanium version holds up. i added them so those who were going to weld two together could easily get them.

    Titanium part update:

O.K. first off I am no rocket scientist nor have I ever claimed to be one, but Titanium is tough stuff to work with! Drill it first before shaping it with a grinder... once heated it takes on a hardness equal to Rockwell 30... don't know what that is?... let me tell you that you wont work the piece in your garage unless you have milling equipment.

So now on to the second attempt...

Reviving an old thread here, but would there be any symptoms other than a grinding noise? This happened to me, and there may be a little noise, but it was noisy anyway. It's also a used bike so perhaps this had already happened.

The kickstart stops with a normal 'knock" at the vertical point just like every other bike I've owned. It's nice and tight. Am I ok?

I don't want to split the case for nothing if there is any other way to diagnose this or at least be reasonable confident. If that stopper plate was broken would the kickstart lever go past vertical or feel loose at the top??

    Hi,
    Probably old issues here.
I had the kick starter grinding, but didn't do it all the time just if it moved slightly.
Anyway, I left it big knowing that the stopper plate had broken off.
I had some issues with gear selection, stuck in first and wouldn't change into second, could get neutral ok. When stationary, engine off it would change ok.
I changed the clutch as it was dragging a bit, hoping it would cuts the issue. If did or so I thought.
All was running fine until it got stuck in fifth. Stripped the right case down and found the broken stopper plate under the selector arm. Luckily no other damage, apart from a chipped case.
Just need to source a new part, but worried it will snap again. Fortunately I fitted a good battery, having the X model; so starts on the button every time.
