I know this post is a little old Weave, but if you've figured out/solved the 'whirring' sound could you post what it was ? If not I'd call Rekluse on it, after being sure I wasn't hearing a driveline hassle or maybe a wheel bearing. They are in my experience very good on the phone .
Also, let's hear about that 280 kit. I have a 250X and am thinking of going that way when it's piston time. Thank you ! Doug

I really enjoy mine! So much so, I've thought about getting the upgrade kit to the full Core setup. I'm trying to find a price to do so.

I do so much better in the rocks and nasties with it. I'm playing with the spring weights for engagement. Tried medium and heavy and I think I like medium better and may try the light on my 250x.

Rekluse doesn't recommend the EXP 2.0 for use with big bore kits or snow bikes.

Correct. For big bore kit bikes they recommend the z-Start Pro.

Hi, Just put the EXP 2.0 on my 08 450X. I love the way it works, but cannot live with the rattle it makes sometimes when you take off. I'm using the Honda red trans oil right now. I called Rekluse and they recommended that I replace my clutch basket with one of theirs. Has anyone found a solution better than replacing my clutch basket?

give it some more break-in time and it may improve. what condition is your basket in? is it notched at all? how about the plates? in spec?

Only 15 hours on the bike, so the basket, plates are in very good condition.

I have a ? and hope someone may answer. My buddie just got a 07 x after riding mine he had to have it. Anyway the 07 came with a exp and the guy had it at max adjustment on the cable and perch. Actually the guy messed up the threads on the perch.I think the previous owner put the friction disks in the wrong order. There are 2 friction disks that are different then the others. Should i leave them out and use all the same ones? According to the service manual the first disk in and the last disk are different then the others.
    Thanks in advance. Joe

ps this will be my 3rd rekluse i installed this month (2 drz400s) and mine will be here friday. awesome product.

Another very satisfied EXP owner here. I have had one in my 2012 X for nearly a year. This one is my 3rd bike with a Rekluse. Won't own another one without it.

Basically the Rekluse makes it easier to go slower and chug through very technical and rocky sections of trail correct?

it allows you to forget about having to slip the clutch when needed or pull the clutch in when you come to a sudden, unexpected stop, which would normally stall your motor. so, the nastier the trail trash the more the rekluse shines.

    Actually, no.
The Rekluse has a certain rpm where the clutch is fully engaged. Below that rpm, it is slipping. So, if you short-shift the 'chug'through nasty terrain, the clutch can slip. I found I had to ride in a higher rpm if going up long steep hills, or the clutch would get hot. That was the main reason why I took mine off; you can't easily shift up under full load, without the clutch slipping. It's supposed to slip, but it means you can't ride in the rpm you want, but only the rpm's above the engagement point.

as an auto clutch it definitely won't auto select the correct gear. it will slip the clutch, just as you would have to do or stall the bike, if you are not in the correct gear. the engagement functions like a manual clutch, it's not an all or nothing engagement. the full engagement does not require a high rpm but yes, it will require a bit higher rpm than a manual clutch chugging just above the stall point. you're one of the very few i've heard of who felt this wasn't worth the auto clutch benefits. the good news for those considering a Rekluse is they offer a no questions asked return policy so you can try it and if you aren't convinced it's a keeper send it back.

I find I can ride at a low rpm going up long steep hills and my clutch does not get hot. And thats in second gear really lugging it. I love my Z Start Pro!! I also have a 14T on the front with a 51T on the rear.
