Hi, I'm hoping someone can help shed some light on my situation. I just put rings in my bike and I went to start it, but i couldn't get it to fire, so i check the timing in all the locations and its spot on. So then i sprayed carb cleaner down its throat to act as starter fluid beings I don't have any. It still didn't start so I replaced the spark plug with a brand new one from NGK and and it still doesn't fire or pop at all. I am running 91 octane gas. Can anyone help me out. I don't want to take it to a professional, I don't have the money for that.

Welcome to the site !! \:D/

Can you give a detailed description of what you did replace/adjust , such as valves etc ?? , is it possible you took the cam tower off , and pulled the buckets and put shims in the wrong location , so its holding a valve open ??

Need more info to help diagnose :-k

I only pulled one bucket off and put it back exactly like I had it, the top caps for the cam came off the cam came out, really nothing with the valves was touched, I attempted to get the flywheel off the put the timing chain on the lower sprocket, that's about all the was touch besides the piston

What do you mean you "attempted" to get the flywheel off ??? , do you have the correct puller ??? and if so did you install it correctly , as you can't tighten the cap down all the way , you can damage the brass end on the crank , and you will lose oiling to the engine 8-[

As far as the bucket goes , the shims can stick in the bucket and lift out of the top of the valve spring retainer , if that happens it can slide around , and not go down into where it needs to be , causing a valve to stick open , are you checking the valve lash after installing the tower ?? , you can do so on the bench with the head off , just align the mark on the sprocket with the mark on the tower and check , this will eliminate a valve sticking open as the issue ...... basically , if you have the timing correct , FRESH gas , your air filter connected , your header/muffler on and tight and you have spark ,and fuel to the plug , the bike should run

Have you tried pulling the plug , dipping the electrode tip in gas and reinstalling (dip it all the way till the threads are in the gas) , then try to fire it and see if it pops or fires ???

I didn't actually get the flywheel off, so it should be in the same place. I know all the spacers on the valves are in the right place cause I checked them when I got put together. But I will have to try dipping the plug in some gas., and the gas in the bike is a few weeks old.

Thank you for all you help

OK , Try the gas and report back ...... this should help determine if it is fuel related or ignition
