frozen linkage bearing

hey all

I went to change the bearings on a used 230 and the suspension linkage bearings were completely rusted out. I was able to free the two single ones, but the double ones are seized completely. It almost looks like they have been fused into place they are so seized.

I am at my wits end trying everything from sockets, punches, cutting, heat. I ended up busting through both races and am left with a very thin ring of the bearing left. Am I SOL!?!?

Soak in your favourite rust killer,a lot of people like kroll, but there are many others. Leave a few days then put in plastic bag in freezer. Take out when chilled and heat the housing. This will hopefully break the bond so you can remove outer race. Otherwise cut race lengthwise with hacksaw and try twisting out with pliers. Use waterproof grease when you install new bearings and check regularly
