    Damage around intake valve seat

    by CRFRichard » Tue Jan 10, 2017 3:22 pm

I'm trying to get my seats recut and I noticed a little bit of damage around one of the intake valve seats. The place I took my head to, suggested I go with oversized valves to fix the damage.

Is this a legit fix? Can they not just recut the three angles for the new valves? I wish I knew how to post pics to show you guys what the damage looks like. It's just outside of the valve seat, around the edge. Looks as if the outer valve seat just kind of flaked off.

    Thanks.[/img]

Welcome to the site !! \:D/

You did not specify what bike your asking about but

Yes the seats can be replaced , or you can install oversize (Intakes) its what i have in my 450X , but it was done for performance , not to repair damage (TRX450 Intakes are 1mm larger than the stock 450R/X valves , so its a common swap)

Contact Ken the owner here , you might want to see what he can offer you , as far as quality and honesty and a fair price , you won't find much better out there , if you need something he will do it , if its not needed he won't do it unless its what you want , he has many options , up to and including a replacement head if needed

Give him a PM and see what he has to say or contact him
