    Right side footpeg removal question

    by 1kayaker » Sun May 10, 2015 9:34 am

The pin hits the brake pedal. What is the proper way to replace the foot peg? Do I have to remove the brake pedal or am I missing something?

Its the 450x. I have since figured it out that I had to remove the brake pedal lever. However when I unscrewed it using the hex tool it was a little sluggish. I figured that it must just be sticky, however to my surprise, when the pedal came all the way out, there was metal shavings on the ground. The screw went back in just fine, but I"m thinking there must have been a cotter pin or something on the inside of the frame where the end of the bolt was exposed that I must have screwed up…. Can you confirm?

Yes it "was" a clip to keep the brake pedal bolt from backing out , since IF the bolt came off for any reason (*hint* like the clip being gone) it would stop that brake from working , hence , a safety issue , so they put a clip on it , you should chase the threads to make sure all is well , with the bolt and the frame insert , then replace the pin (Part # 12)
