Compression bump from HG centre layer?

    by OTMTRX » Fri Apr 25, 2014 12:41 pm

Hello all, pretty new here, seems a very cool site. I picked up a basket case 05CRF250r last year and rebuilt it in last few weeks. Put a HC2 in it and removed the centre layer of the HG, about to do the decomp mod too. I know on a 450r the centre layer is 8T"(I'm a quad guy at heart) it gives you 0.4 bump in compression, just curious as to what increase it gives on a 250r? I meant to measure / work it out but threw out the center layer before I remembered..

Sorry, I'd just like to know how much increase in compression removing the centre layer of the OEM head gasket gives you.

I know on the TRX450r's its approx 0.4:1 increase using a CRF 2 layer gasket (or removing the centre layer of OEM gasket).

Just wondering how much increase it gives you on the 250's?

oh I understand now, that's a bit to much math for me. but your thoughts a probably close, I used to deck my cr250's -.005 just to gain a slight bit, not sure how much was gained though. It would also depend on the thickness of the stock used in the gasket. but as you said the trx450 has a .4:1 increase I would think the 250 would run right in line with that.

    Thanks for the reply, appreciated.

    Anyone know??

Also what is the squish measurement (piston in hole) and also the combustion ch. volume? I've got 60thou" in my mind for squish, but don't know where I got that from..

I probably should have measured / done all this when I had it apart eh? Lol.
