Would apreciate some info on this. I am going to attempt to put a water pump "rebuild kit" in my 06,crf250r.(first time ever), soooo. My question is, do i need to remove clutch cover and crank case cover to do this? Or can i access that by just removing the water pump cover itself?? Going to replace the "bearing' and both shaft seals.. Thanks for some info on this!!! plz. :?:

Your going to have to take off the right engine cover, and obviously the water pump cover. the bearings pressed into the inside of the engine cover. They use those blind bearing pullers to remove that. and a seal is on that side too i believe. The impeller shaft may need replaced too if seal wore groves in it. Pretty easy job once in there.

welcome to CRF's Only! here's a link to a how-to for rebuilding the water pump on a CRF450R. not exactly the same but it does help with the basic process:

The how-to ken linked mentions screw drivers and socket (12mm) in place of the seal and bearing pullers. I have change many bearings and seals using screw drivers and sockets to get them out, and sockets or blocks of wood to put them in. I did pick up a bearing puller kit and a bearing/seal driver kit last year. Despite having them, I probably only used them on 25% of the seals and bearing that I have done since.
