    Can't get bike started!

So I just replaced my valves on my 06 crf250r and I have put everything back together and cannot get it to start. I have checked the timing and shimming multiple times and everything is to spec, I have spark and new gas, and I just cleaned the pilot jet.

Before cleaning the jet I could get it to turn over for about a half second before it would die out but only with the choke off and holding the hot start lever. After cleaning it I turned the gas and choke on and it started for about a second first kick then died now it is doing the exact same thing that it did before.

    Questions:
    1. Do you think that I could have missed some particles when cleaning the jet and that is why it start for a second then possibly got clogged back up?

    2. Possibly running to rich and is flooding it, hence the reason it will only turn over with hot start lever? If so, how do I adjust it?

    3. Any other possible solutions that I am missing?

Did you replace the valves or did you have a machine shop do a valve job?

It is really tough to clean the pilot jet.

Replace it with a new one, and the problems usually go away. They are $6 bucks.

when you cleaned the Carb. im assuming you took the vacuum plate out of the slide. the plate is like a arrow shape and should be facing upwards. simple mistake. may be your issue. if valves are shimmed and timing is correct and compression is good and getting fuel it should start. the fuel screw on the bottom of the Carb towards the intake of the motor if turned in will lean the bike out and out will richen.

also.... did the bike stop running so you thought it the was valves and did them or did this incident happen after the bike was running then did valves and now it wont run? or did it just flat out die on you while riding? I've had quite a few electrical issues where the bike justbfied and wouldn't start and the bike would want to crank and when towed and bump started it would run like crapola! what did u set your vvalves clearances at?
