    03 CRF 450 CRANK

    ok so here it goes i have a problem soon i will not be able to ride for a while do to surgery
    and i know for a fact that i need a new top end,
    what is the worst case, for riding on the bottom how do i know if i need a new one?
    i have the top end off
    and i dont have a great deal of money for a rebuild. i need a new head and i have to hown(<i think is how to spell it) the cylinder so can anybody please point me in the direction to get this done or if even possible?

    first, sorry to hear about the pending surgery. i hope it's nothing serious and a full recovery is expected and achieved.

    do NOT hone the cylinder unless you have the correct equipment and expertise. and no a drill and a harbor freight hone is not the right equipment.

    on your head, unless there isn't enough valve seat material left or the head is damaged you can save some money reusing it by getting a valve job.

    bottom end, if there's bronze colored metal shavings in the oil filter replace the crank and crank bearings. if there aren't any of these metal shavings apparent then make sure you don't have any up and down movement of the rod or crank. some side to side movement is by designed.
