i don't personally use them. my philosophy on oil and air filter maintenance is make it as simple and quick as possible so i won't avoid this important maintenance. for this reason i use kn-116 paper oil filters that i can just toss in the trash. having to clean the oil filter each time would add to the time it takes and increase the effort and mess. the paper version keeps it simple, quick and without additional mess. i also use oil i purchase by the gallon. makes it more likely that i'll have oil on hand and is easier to store.

on the air filters i have a set of five for each model. i clean, oil and dry them all at the same time and then store them in zip-loc bags. this allows me me to always have a clean one ready to go when a new air filter is prudent.

SS filters have their place, especially in racing. Take a look at this for more info:

    I like them.

I'm not a fan of overspending when I can buy it once and reuse it.

I have always felt the factory paper filters catch finer material in the oil than the SS filters do.
