    What are these?

by the venturer » Sun Mar 24, 2013 1:33 pm

Hello all. Can u please tell me what these two metal bits are and that bolt, too?
I think they are used on side covers?
Also, I need the pictures of bolts, nuts and screws holding those front-rear plastic frames.
    Thank you.

since you did not say, guessing this is a CRF-X of sone sixe and year. The pins hold the airbox door on. The bolt could be several things, but it "looks" like a rotor bolt. What year is the bike and what did you take apart. is the bolt a 10mm or something else? does the bolt allow a phillips or is it just the hex head?

it also kind of looks like a battery terminal bolt.

Thank you guys for your help. But it s not a battery terminal bolt. Too long for it. Btw, i discovered last week that those nail like bits are for air filter door. Tonite will measure and take another close shot for the bolt again. Weird i cant find a place for it. Removed frames only to cable and hardwire for cigar liter socket and gps.Edit:2009 crf 450X

Interesting. Does not look like a factor bolt, or at least a bolt we see on the US bikes. The only 12mm of similar length that I can think of is the exhaust mounting bolt. Do you have a factory or aftermarket exhaust?

If you only took off the sub frame, absent the fender and airbox which use 8mm bolts, you are looking at:
      Front sub frame pivot bolt
Bottom sub frame to frame bolts (2)
Muffler mounting bolts (2, different lengths)
      Side plates
      Seat
Exhaust mid-pipe clamp (if you took the mid pipe off the header)
Upper and lower shock bolt with nut (bolts do not have normal heads)
Do you have bolts for all of these? None of these has a factory bolt like the one you are showing, and only some have a 12mm head. Still, some people will grab whatever fits - some will even use a 12mm hex bolt that has the same thread as the 8mm that came out of the hole. I think at this point you need to go through the process of elimination. Maybe post photos of what you still have apart?
