Mounting Acerbis Rally Pro Handguards on Renthal Twin Walls

    by TTRACY » Thu Jan 10, 2013 7:39 am

Hello and thank you for looking at my post. Great forums, thank you to all who have posted. I have taken a lot of great information from the posts you have shared.

Recently I aquired a set of Renthal RC High Bend twin wall bars and am having trouble mounting my Acerbis Rally Pro handguards to them. Is there a special mounting kit needed for these bars? I have the Acerbis mounts for 1 1/8" bars but they don't seem to work like when I have used them on ProTaper bars.

    Any advice?

    Thanks

    Hi Tim,

Welcome to CRF's Only! If these are new Rally Pro Handguards they should have come with Acerbis' universal mount kit. If you have the original style mounts then yes, you'd need the Twinwall version of them OR the universal mounts.

Basically, fat bars have only two requirements:

    1. They must be 1 1/8" at the bar mount points
    2. They must be 7/8" at the controls

The wall thickness and the rate of taper from the 1 1/8" and the 7/8" sections are up to the manufacturer. Hence you end up with the need for different mounts if you are installing something that mounts midway on the bar.

    Here's what you need:

    Hope this helps!

Thanks Ken, I'll take another look and order if needed.
