cant get cam out of head, please help!

    by leirhiht » Sat Dec 22, 2012 3:36 pm

i messed up big this time. so i got a 06 crf250r and i took my left cam cap off too get the valve cover threading helicoiled. while doing all this i notice the cam sprocket was not aligned with the head surface, although being in tdc on the crank casing when i took the cam caps off. so now i cannot get the cam chain off and the cam is up in the air on the decomp. clip and i feel like my cam bearings are being scored up. what did i do wrong and how can i fix this quickly?? its getting dark and i want to wrap it up. some one please help!!

did you disengage your cam chain tensioner? if not, it must be diengaged when removing the cam.

i had it backed out all the way, not removed. i finally got the cam out tho. it was a little tough. ill get it back on tomorrow, when i do i will set it at TDC according to the marks on the left cover. i hear thats easier than the right cover markings. whats your take on that?>
