To Seafoam (or equivalent) or not

Hi All
I have been reading about Seafoam and its supposed decarbonising effects. I wouldn't mind trying out some through my '07 250X to clean out the engine internals. Does anyone in the forum use Seafoam at all? and is there any other equivalent product that could be recommended? We don't get all the brands down here in Africa

Warning: This is completely un-scientific and my opinion.
That stuff is a light weight (20w or so) oil and alcohol. It is meant to clean out accumulated sludge in older engines, especially diesel.
Most of our bikes have the oil changed at much more frequent intervals than is even necessary and so there is little chance of sludge buildup.
To me, it wouldn't be of any practical use.

I think he is talking about running it thru the Fuel. YES it Does work, will clean the Carb, I use it as a Winter Additive to stabilize the fuel, as does about 10-12 of the Dealer Around here.

yeah, looking to clean it out through the fuel system. Are there any other big brand name alternatives, maybe an STP or similar that would do the same thing?

I've used seafoam in all my CRFs and never had a problem. Also acts as a fuel stabilizer or freshener as well as cleaner and water remover.
Good stuff in my book...

I work on jet skies and boats and use sea foam in both when winterizing them. Works great! In my bikes I mix in Star Brite STAR TRON. Very good quality stuff. Keeps the fuel from seperating for up tp 2 years. Ive never had a problem with it. Just mix up with the correct amount of gas, pour in your tank, and run the bike to get it flowing through the carb.
