    07 CRF450R carb trouble

    by Blakec221 » Fri Nov 30, 2012 1:04 pm

Hey guys, after recently overheating my bike due to a busted radiator hose I had to rebuild the top end because of a blown head gasket. While I had everything apart i took the carp apart and cleaned it up. After reassembly the bike fired right up on the second kick but after reaching operating temp it doesnt wanna idle on its own and also getting a lot of backfires and has a little trouble getting off of the bottom end when i romp on it hard. Simple as a few treeks to the carb or does it need a little more attention?

welcome to CRF's Only. my initial guess is the floating valve plate on the slide is upside down. did you remove the slide?

did you use carb cleaner? so, you likely damaged this seal.

check the header gasket, check the hot start is functioning correctly (plunger is function and nut is not broken). check carb boots for air leak. if there is a chance the pilot jet is clogged replace it.
