EDITED TO CORRECT FIRST POST '09 CRF150 F not starting

    by DGREW » Sat Apr 07, 2012 9:01 am

I edited this because I originally mistakenly said that the tank fuel line went to the "VALVE ASSY., AIR CUT"
    - It does NOT!!

I have a '09 CRF150 F that I let sit for 10 months without running. Could not start it. Checked plug - was firing well. changed gas & emptied float bowl. I put a bit of gas in spark plug hole and it started for a few weconds.

I checked the float bowl and it was empty - so fuel appears to not be getting to carb from tank.

When I blow or suck on the line going into the line from tank to VALVE ASSY., AIR CUT - I get nothing - so it appears to be preventing fuel from getting to bowl.

Haven't removed the carb & gotten into carb bowl & float yet - suspect the float valve is sticking - hard - rapped it a few times with a wrench and no fuel coming out bottom of float chamber.
Thanks for any info, Dennis [/img]

    Welcome to CRF's Only.

If you aren't getting any fuel to the float bowl at a minimum you'll have to remove the carb and inspect and clean the float assembly.

    Ken,

Thanks for the information. It was a stuck float valve. I managed to get the float bowl off without removing the Carb. I cleaned it with carb cleaner - made sure the float valve functioned & it now works great.

    Thanks again.
