05 crf Valve adjustment problems

Just joined. 1st post. I have a 05 CRF 250, tried to adjust valves 98% sure I had valves at TDC when I checked clearance. Subtracted the difference between spec and measurement from existing shim and went and got the shims. both exhaust were .008 and left intake was a tight .005 (good) right intake was .000 no clearance so I got a 240 shim. I made a rookie mistake and removed the timing chain from cam w/o releasing the tension (don't think it was a big deal) removed chain tensioner and then put it all back to gether with new shims and plug, checked clearance, none at all on intakes and exhaust are .022 (way off) Thought I would try and turn the motor over a few times. went through stroke slowly a few times, no different, put the valve cover and tank back on, no good compresion, no start, tore back down still no clearance. I figure that there's no compresion because the valves are stuck open, but why? All timing indicators line up. Please help with any suggestions. Should I tear it down further and inspect the valves? if so please send me a link with good directions on how to do so. Thank you.

when setting the timing, make sure the cam lobes are facing the rear of the bike and are pointed slightly upward. This is TDC when the timing marks are lined up. You may be 180 degrees off.

Thanx for the quick reply. Thought that might be a possability so I took out cam cranked motor all the way around and tried it again. No luck. Definatly have the lobes in the right direction too. Please let me know if u have any other ideas. I will probably drain fluids and tear down further if not.

sorry time for a valve job shimming will only get you an hour or so and if u have a zero reading why would you get a 240 shim how did you work that out

I thought 240 would be a good start from my existing 260 shim. What does everyone recomend for a valve job? Also what else should I do while I have it tore down?
