hi, i just got a 2005 crf250r race bike. i traded it for my 2000 cr250 2smoke. i got the bike knowing the shift shaft was bent but when i took off the front sprocket guard it had a hole in the case :x ! the peice were the guard mounts has been ripped off and has a hole the size of a pencil in diameter. i put jb weld on it and it seale it up ok. i got on it and rode it and the jb weld still held. now how do i fix a bent shift shaft? my guess is that the chain came off and broke the case and bent it but the guy said he didnt know. it is bent really bad right were it comes out of the case. it still shifts good but youhave to kick it down after you shift up. any help is appreciated thanks a lot!

welcome to CRF's Only! ok...i'll voice what you already know...to fix it right you need to replace the shaft. on a scale from 1-10 how helpful was that suggestion? ;-) really, you just need to replace the shift shaft. this happened to me on a XR400 and i bent it back well enough to be used but then one day some 30 miles from the staging area the shift shaft broke off. i was stuck in 1st gear for 30 miles. in the end had to replace it anyway.

again, welcome.
