2010 CRF250R Lower End Rebuild Help

    by Romeo622 » Mon Dec 19, 2011 7:00 pm

I'm recently found gold colored chunks of metal in my oil filter on my 2010 CRF250R. I'm not sure how many hours are on the bike. I have had it about 2yrs. Bought it brand new. I would have to say the hours are pretty high, I ride most every weekend. I am just wanting some advice on which route to go as far as what else to inspect once I get inside. I am guessing it is a lower end issue, also what else is a good idea to replace while I'm in there. I just want to do everything I need to inside, so I don't have to go back in there again anytime soon. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

welcome to CRF's Only. sounds like you'll need new main bearings. you should replace the crank at the same time along with the bearings. if you have this many hard hours on the motor replace the piston, do a valve job and new valves. replace the cam chain. inspect the rest of the bottom end per the manual.

    again, welcome.

Thanks, I have just tore the bottom end apart and found out how much of a pain it was to order all the parts 1 by 1 because they do not make a crankshaft kit with everything you need to do a complete bottom end. I ordered OEM crankshaft, piston, timing chain and guides, oil pump, and all seals, and bearings. Hopefully I didn't miss anything while I was in there.
