    CRF450R Clutch problem

    by sirmish » Fri Oct 28, 2011 3:32 am

I had an accident a while back, my chain guide dicinegrated after i put on a bigger rear sprocket. My chain came off and went into the case. It doesn't appear to have damaged anything externally. I pulled the clutch cover and right crank case cover off and inspected, also I had to put the shifter back online because it stopped working as well.

I can move my pressure plate freely with the clutch pusher not pushed out. I thought it was my springs. They measured like 36mm and the new ones i got were like 43mm (Something close to).

I can't figure out howcome I don't have enough pressure between the plate and my clutch discs.

perhaps i bent something when i sent my chain into the case? I pulled it all apart into the inner bearing on the hub and i can't see anything wrong.

Any advice or what to do next would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to fix this myself before i take it to a mechanic.

Clutch slips, doesn't grab, with the lever let out the bike just rolls forward slightly.

have you taken a measurement of your clutch disks there service limit should be 2.85mm and the plates 0.15mm
is it possible that you have the wrong trans oil? or incorrect ajustment you may have damaged your lifter leaver in some way?

I've yet to tear into it again to check plates. I'm running amsoil synthetic 10w40 or 20w50 I can't remember which one i have in that side of my case but i think it was 20w50.
