BEST WAY TO GET OFF A STUCK GASKET?

    by rider252 » Thu Oct 06, 2011 8:58 am

I PULLED OFF THE LEFT CRANK CASE COVER AND THE GASKET STUCK TO THE CRANK CASE LIKE IT IS BAKED ON THERE. I STARTED TO USE A RAZOR BLADE TO TAKE IT OFF AND THAT WAS NOT WORKING THAT WELL. SO I PUT OIL ON IT TO TRY AND LOOSEN IT UP LAST NIGHT HAVE NOT TRIED AGIAN YET. ANY BODY KNOW OFF ANY TRICKS OR HAVE RUN INTO THIS PROPLEM BEFORE? THANKS

Hi, had this same problem with a road bike a few years ago, i placed the casing in a tray with a petrol (gas) and diesel mix for about an hour, turned the gasket into a soft mess that almost wiped off! hope that helps! :D
