    Bubbles in graphics kit

    by Joebob » Fri Apr 30, 2010 8:08 am

Hopefully this isnt too terribly hard to answer.

I put a graphics kit on the wifes 230. The right side number plate was murder and I ended up with bubbles in it. Tried poking holes in the bubbles and pushing them down but it hasnt helped much. Is there any other tricks to get rid of bubbles?

Little slice with a razor blade and a hair dryer with moderate heat to soften the vinyl enough to squeegee the air out.

    Order decal works aplication fluid
So easy to use , works great , lets you move around the decal until it is in the correct position.

It is the only way to do it !!

I have always used Windex for auto decals. Tried it with bike graphics once and was not that happy with it. Started using the Decal Works fluid, and I must say, stuff really works. What I did find is if you do not "warm" the graphics with a heat gun while using the squeegee to smooth the graphics you stands a pretty good chance of trapping too much fluid.

It really is different than Windex.

here's a trick i picked up from an AMA mechanic. when you remove the backing from the graphic, set the graphic aside and strategically cut up the backing and reapply it to the graphic. this allows you to reveal only the sticky parts of the graphic you will apply initially keeping the rest of the sticky covered by the backing. then when you are ready you can pull one section of backing off at a time revealing just the amount of sticky you can deal with at one time. it's so obviously simple and yet brilliant. try it next time you install graphics.
