help me understand bike electrical

    i used this wiring diagram (06/07 250x) i have been using. a member here sent it to me a while back when i initially started dealing with this wiring nonsense.

    Yours looks to be the same as the one I have been using in this thread.
    To verify the state of your stator :wink: then do this… first unplug the stator wires, then perform these tests.
    1. Test Yellow to Blue for continuity.
    2. Test Yellow to ground for continuity.
    3. Test Blue to ground for continuity.
    Now test the exciter coil.
    1. White to Ground for OL, open.
    2. White to Blue w/ White stripe for continuity.
    3. White to Yellow (from the charge coil) for OL, open
    If all goes well then your stator should be fine. If not make sure your VOM is working right then retest.

    Don’t sweat it man, I just checked my Clymer and yes the 250s use a different stator color scheme than the 450s. The 250x also has a ‘Main Relay’ where the 450s do not.

    update - had a buddy check over the bike, turns out i swapped the plug for the alternator and rectifier on reassembly. so thats why it wouldnt run.

    going to give up on the charging issues at this point, its riding season.
