practice, throtel control and time. Sory no easy ansers to that one. Ride with someone above you're level and study their moves.

Keep your foot on the rear brake. If you start to tip over backwards, tap on the brake and the front end will come down. More gas to keep the front up if it is wanting to fall.

First - it is easier on hard pack or pavement than sand to practice and work on wheelies

Second - the bigger the cc rating of the bike the easier it is to just gas it and bring the front end up - and 4 strokes are way easier to wheelie because of the torque and tractability.

Third - On smalle cc bikes you might have to drop the clutch a bit but you should be fine on a CRF250r

Put it in 2nd gear bring it to about half throttle (in the powerband) and crack it to about 3/4 or a bit more fast while sitting on the middle of the seat it should come up easily.

If you want to ride it out when you get used to it you can speed shift it when it is at about the 10 o'clock position. (Practice just riding it in one gear for quite a while first though)

and yeah keep a foot on the rear brake and remember that when it comes up and you start to lay back you have a tendance to give it more throttle automatically.

I've only owned my CRF250R for about a year. I only have about 30 hours of seat time.

I start in 3rd gear and shift up to 5th ASAP. Keepin my revs low and weight forward. If you keep your weight forward, the bike will be more verticle, but I think it's easier to balance than sitting way back on the seat. I've been practicing and so far my longest wheelie down the road has been 2.5 miles at 55 MPH. My buddy was behind me in my car during the whole thing. I can ride wheelies now with my feet over the bars, on the radiator shrouds, standing, sitting. It's all about practice. Best way to start out though is 3rd gear and slip the clutch a bit, just so you can keep the revs low. If you're revvin too high, the throttle becomes very responsive and you may end up on your back. Make sure to check your sprockets and chain tension after riding wheelies cause it'll cause your rear sprocket to "hook" and your chain will loosen and slip on your front sprocket

Excellent use of the word tractability.

P.S.I was 14 had an 82 480r 3rd gear with clutch on the road and looped it!Laying on the ground quickly checking wounds and a BIG guy come out of his house. He was realy mad I woke his kid up.He felt better after punching me in the nose(should of left my helmet on to lick my wounds)STAY OFF THE ROAD!

i find it easy to pop a wheelie on hard surfaces by just hitting the gas. Throttle control is ur best advice you can get :)
