Spoke Crf 250 - 2008

Hello
I am about to change spoke and rim om my 250r from 2008. The spoke comes in 2 lengths. I can´t find any info on how to lace the spoke the right way. Some say that all the short spoke goes in on side of the hub, and some says the the short is an inner spoke, and some say its a outer spoke? Or the other way around. It´s on an Excel rim and spoke on a OEM Hub. I have tried Different combinations with the spoke, bud I run out of thread when I start to tighten the spoke, - or the rim is off center!
Can someone please help me.

The longer spokes go to the inside (both sides) and the shorter to the outside holes , install them all loosely and then snug down so only a few or no threads are left showing from the nipple , then tighten each 3rd spoke 1/4 turn until all are snug (mark the spoke you start on , then skip 2 then snug the next 1/4 turn , when you get back to the original spoke , move to the next one and repeat the process , 3 times total to make a complete rotation , then repeat the complete process until all the spokes are tight enough to "ting" when you hit them with the spoke wrench **use your other wheel that is still together to "ping" the spokes so you can hear the tone**)

Jim,
Is there an offset measurement in the workshop manual or are the rims zero offset from the hub face? If there is an offset it is something that can be checked when all the spokes are tight.

Yes Ray , there is a offset listed in the Manual , what i have generally found when lacing wheels is that they usually "fall into place" and ends up if you snug it down correctly at what "spec" should be , i have rarely had to "adjust" the wheel to get it to spec , in the case of the 250R , the Front is 28.0mm +/- 1.0 or 1.10in +/-0.04 , the Rear is 48.75 +/- 1.00 or 1.919in +/- 0.039 , measured from the hub to rim edge on the sprocket side , so when measured
Rear: Left outside edge of the hub (Sprocket mounting surface) to the leftmost outside edge of the rim should be 48.75mm +/- 1.0mm.
Front: Right outside edge of the hub (Brake Rotor mounting surface) to the rightmost outside edge of the rim should 28.0mm +/- 1.0mm.
Make sense ??
On a related note , i just laced a 2016 Husky 350 front rim for a friend that had a altercation with another bike off a jump , it totalled the rim , it could have passed for a capital letter D , so he gave me the new rim and a new set of spokes and his hub , as he had already cut the spokes to disassemble the wheel before i got to it , so i got a bag of spokes , a wheel and a hub and was on my own with nothing to reference it to , anyway , i laced it up and took it to him the next day , i actually had it done in just about a hour but i had to install a new tube and front tire as well , I told him to tell me if there was any alignment issues with the brake , ... he had no issues and the wheel was right where it was supposed to be
