climbing a hill with out much of a run requires you maintain good traction at the rear which demands throttle control and adjusting your weight to the rear while being careful not to wheelie. you'll have look ahead to locate quickly obstacles in the path to either avoid them or ride through them. look to gain as much momention/speed as possible where ever you can as you move up the hill.
the only way to get better at climbing hills is to climb lots of them. take them all on and each will teach you something important about climbing.
