So i worked on my buddies 08 450x and he said hard to start , well we changed out valves and install 08 R cam , new piston and a new starter, well still hard to start? so after all that seems the 08 had decompression issues . so my ? is do i install the update 08 450x decompression system in the R cam or get the more expensive 08 R decompression system and what is the difference in the 2 decompression pieces seems they should be the same but the R is like 150 bucks with the new pin and actuator shaft and the X is like 80 bucks for the 2 pieces ? thx in advance

Welcome to the site !! \:D/

My first question is , what is wrong with the decompressor ?? , is the shaft bent or broken ?? , is the plunger bad or broke ?? ..... my personal opinion is I would swap the setup (tower ,everything , ) with a 02-06 450R or a 05-06 450X , which has the separate rocker to adjust the decompressor , and it will solve the problem , as the 08 R and X both have the same issue with the decompressor and continued to have it thru 09 , but the earlier models did not ..... , I have a 06 450X and have never had a decompressor issue , the bike is in the 3,500 mile range (single track trail riding) , and has never had any decompressor issues .... That would be my recommendation .....
