there are so many terms in use
can you help me find definitions for them?

mx bike = close course only, no lights, no lightning coil, mostly steep, narrow powerband, normally >500cc

dual sport = street legal, lights, brake lights?, mirrors ?, turn signals ?, DOT approved tires, often 600cc+ displacement or even 2 cylinders

adventure bike = dual sports with big gas tank, luggage rack or panniers, comfortable seat, mostly for long distance more "rough" than "off" road

so far - fine
but

trail bike?
woods bike?
wifes bike?
enduro?
off road bike?
pit bike?

i would consider a "trail bike" something like a KDX200 or KTM300.

"woods bike"- something that can withstand and good on gas like the XR200 to XR400

"wifes bike" something lighter that can be also competitive in all riding types like the CRF150 CRF230 KLX TT-R DR-Z. basicly anything between 125cc-230cc
and if she is good maybe the TT-R225.

"enduro"- i would say something like the XR600 or 650 and the KTM525.

"offroad bike"- thats kind of hard but i think it would be something like the 250 and 125 smokers, cause you dont see any smokers "on road" (supermoto)

"pit bike" when i hear "pit bike" i think of the CRF/XR50. just something to cruise the pits in without a whole lotta maintenance and can be toted virtually anywhere.

i hope this helps Ev!
