Fan, you will not take this personal,
just another one of those clashes ...

why would someone buy a toy on credit :?
a toy he could total any minute
a toy that loses 1/3 of it's official value the moment you use it the 1st time
in DP I talked to a guy who wanted to sell his 450R
but nobody would pay the amount he still owed on the bike

    credit

    by wade » Wed Sep 08, 2004 6:45 am

I am in the auto business and I see it everyday. I am also guilty of it. There are a lot of reasons for putting a toy on credit, rates are so low now and the interest they use is "simple interest" which means there is no pre-payment penalty if you want to pay it off early. With rates in the 2's and 3's why not use someone elses money and pay it off later. I noticed in a previous photo that you posted that you have a pretty nice truck, did you pay cash for it or did you finance. If you did pay cash...great, you are in a better financial situation then I am. If you financed it then there is no difference then financing a "toy". You can wreck a vehicle just as easy as a bike but it is a heck of a lot more expensive to fix, and cars and trucks (especially domestic cars and trucks) have much worse depreciation then a bike would have. You can actually check bike and atv re-sale values on NADA.com or Edmunds.com. Finally why not finance...after all living beyond your means is the American way...Driving in style, living in debt.

    is your toy comprehensive insured?
    my truck is

only vehicle I ever financed was a van for my shop and that was not a financial but tax-political decission
sorry the way I was braught up
so as long as it is OK with you guys I'll keep asking strange questions

    misunderstanding

    by wade-o » Wed Sep 08, 2004 9:10 am

Ok guys let's not get worked up over trivial stuff like if you paid cash for your bikes or if you financed them through AHFC. We all have a common bond in the bikes we ride and the sport we love. Besides we are the three biggest posters on this forum, if we argue all the time it could turn the newer members away, and we all want this place to get as big as it can. Oh yea and I was talking about ev's truck..he posted a picture of his bikes one time and his truck was there and it looked nice. :P

no way man we wont put a bike on a credit card. we dont even have a credit card. What i mean by applying for credit is going to honda.com and seeing if we can get financed AKA to see if Honda will give us credit for a new bike. and they did and we are getting it next month, simple as that. actually the nicest people on the planet AKA Durant Cycle told us to come and get the bike now. but we want to wait a bit.

P.S. even if we did put it on credit you shouldnt ask me why or brag about how many vehicles youve put on credit, should you?

P.S.S. There is no picture of my truck on this website.

    please read word by word
    then think
    read again
    think again
    before you talk back

nobody here talked about credit cards
nobody here asked YOU if or how many whatsoevers YOU did finance
I dared asking a general question about something I did not understand
