    by hondafan » Tue Aug 03, 2004 8:01 pm

hey i was just wandering how it can be 90% rider on a straight? You know Ev is always preaching it but i smoked a dude that races on his 125 on my 250. 90% rider on a straight?? Am i just confused, stupid, idiotic, manic, psychodic, dumb, challenged, mentally ill, listen to jim morrisson too much, worried, stressed, scared, insane, lame, hypnotic, hypnotised, jeopardised circumcised, frightenedheightenedafraid of fightin, right, wrong, listenin to a janis joplin song?

    whats the deal? someone please!?

hondafan...i hesitate to jump in but i have to point out that ricky has been pretty consistent in taking the first turn out of the gate...in other words he's been winning the drag race even though windham has the same 450 and the rest of the riders likewise have the same class bike...so, obviously ricky must have some advantage to be this consistent...and it's not the bike.

    just my .02 worth...

so, the trained monkey did not hesitate to open the trottle because it does not know fear or can picture scenarios in the future
    and
who the heck wants to go straight? he who corners poorly? my friend called 'traction'?
racing does not inevitably mean being fast
outrunning a bike with a lot less power on a straight does not make you a winner
in a few years even you will find out

    straight

I have to agree with ev on this one. Any one can build something to go very fast in a straight line but it takes talent and skill to take someone in the corners. If we were only ment to go straight the bike designers would not have designed the handle bars to turn. Congrats on the win.....now beat him in the turns.

i'm a huge k-dub fan...and respect him a lot but next year would have been great to still have ricky riding for honda. just think of the battles between RC/Reed/Bubba/K-Dub/???.

actually i'm a bit surprised that kevin hasn't been able to consistently finish ahead of Reed...i really thought it would be honda 1-2 in the nationals...it's still possible so i'm not counting him out but reed appears to be getting faster each round so not likely without a mishap or equipment failure.

no one is confirming the 450X but there's a lot of rumor going on right now...some think it will be an '05 mid-season bike...we'll see.

there's no doubt eventually there will be one though...the wr450f is selling too well for honda to ignore that market.
