    Recommend a good Used Truck

    by JohnSBA » Sat May 24, 2008 11:46 pm

I'm in the market to buy a truck - i'm thinking its a great time to pick up a barely used 2006 / 2007 model. Something with crew cab that I can haul bikes in and pull an enclosed 6x12 trailer with. Gas mileage not really a factor, it won't be a daily driver. Let me know what you think - make / model / what to look for...

I'm not a car/truck guy at all, so all suggestions are most welcome.

Depending on what your looking for (4x4? leather? cloth? fully loaded?) myself and my dad are trying to get rid of our trucks. I have a 2006 Toyota Tundra crew cab that just clicked 20k, 4wd, sunroof, power windows/doors, ect... My dad has a 2005 Ford F150 Lariet crew cab, leather, all the bells and whistles. PM me if your interested in either.

Should be real easy to find a v8 truck. The dealers around here are not accepting trade in's because they are not selling. Are far as what kind, I've hears stories about all makes and models. Find one that you like and take it for a test drive.

Since your needs aren't heavy duty look into a 03+ quad cab dodge. You can get alot for your money and the 4.7 V8 is a great little motor.

The 4.7 can pull the trailer, but if you are hauling a lot like three bikes, gear, 100 gal of wter, etc, I would go up in engine size.

I'll be hauling a 6x12 enclosed, in the range of 2500lbs tops, and that's relatively infrequently. Much of the time, bikes in the bed of the truck, or just making dump runs, etc. Usual truck stuff. Price range in the high teens...
