Hey guys, i hope someone can help me out with this
quick. I just bought and enclosed trailer from Lowes,
and i want to use it these comming weekend to go down
to budds creek.

Here is my question, the floor is treated plywood, what
would i use to seal it up, so if fuel or oil is spilled, it
wont soak into the floor. I had a couple of ideas; either
using Thompsons water seal, or purchasing the
rustoliem Epoxy garage floor paint with the traction
chips. Has anyone ever done this before or have any
suggestions? If so, please let me know. Thanks in

are you worried about the 'lifespan' or about optics?
as long as you are not spilling gallons of gas do not worry about your floor,
if you really want it to last forever cover your floor with a "Schalungsplatte" lack of tech. terms sorry dark brown laminat covered birch plywood, one side rough silkscreen surface, mostly fabricated in Finnland

Treat the existing bare floor (assuming its bare plywood and not already treated) with a water sealer, then purchase some inexpensive linoleum (or expensive if you prefer), and carpet/tile glue.
cut the linoleum to fit your trailer in one sheet , lay down the glue.. lay down the sheet, smooth out with a roller or your hand... let dry for a few hours..
(i suggest the checkboard -black white squares for that racing look)
Its relatively inexpensive, protects the wood floor, and looks good, as well as provides a smooth easy cleanable surface.

I have tried a few different kinds of flooring. The plain plywood is, well, plain. A motocross trailer needs to have black and white checkered. The first time I used the cheap vinal tiles, the ones where you peel the paper off the back and stick them to the floor. No good. The second a drop of gas spilled out the carb vent and onto the floor, it was junk. The summer heat also made it peel up. It gets really hot in there with the doors closed during the week. Next, I tried a one piece that came in a roll. It was harder to fit and center. I never done that before. I only got one season out of it. The material just did not hold up. It got scratched and torn and looked really bad. Finally I went out and bought commercial grade vinal tiles. These are 1 foot by 1 foot square, are easy to install with the proper glue, and have lasted three seasons now. After you put the floor down and the glue has dried, put a few coats of wax down to protect it and seal the seams so gas won't get under it. I strip the wax every spring clean it and rewax a few times. It still looks good. The commercial tile has the color all the way through so if it scratches, you wont notice it as much. Good luck! ps i would put a roof vent in that oven on wheels!

I do have a roof vent on the trailer, thank god it came with it! I can see tha thing becomming an oven in the summer. As for the commericial grade black and white checker tile, where did you get it at and how much did it run you? Also, how long was the install, and how long did it take to setup and cure?

Another thing, i am going to budds creek this weekend, so if i just coat it up with a watersealer ( i was thinking thompsons unless some has another idea or company ) will i be able to tile it after that. Any and all help is appreciated i am leaving saturday morning, so i would like to have it all taken care tonight or tommorrow if possible because that is the only 2 days we are supposed to have good weather here in Pittsburgh this week.

Jut8...I bought the stuff at Carpet Castle. It's a store that sells flooring. I did not find it at Home Depot. I bought one box of each color. That was enough for a 6 foot by 12 foot trailer. 6 times 12 equals 72, so i used 72 squares. Ok 80, I made a few mistakes. I still have a lot left over. I think i paid 70$ a box, but dont quote me on that. Glue was 15$ i think. The tiles are not true black and white. There are other colors mixed in to help hide any dents and scratches. It took me 4 hours. I also put down several coats of wax and each coat took a little time to dry. Make sure you measure your trailer. U can't by individual tiles, only boxes. If your gonna put tile in when u get back, I would not spend the money on sealer for just one ride. Make sure the bottom has protection. My trailer came painted black from the factory. If i remember right, U PA guys use a lot of sand on the roads. When it comes time to installing the tile, make sure floor is clean and dry. Someone at the store can answer questions on install. Have fun at Budds Creek. I thaught they were plowing snow off of it last weekend. I go to NEMX, an indoor place at Ohio Pa border. No snow there!

That i freakin awesome, i am going to try to get up there this thursday before the race, dont tell me you ride the the CRF with the Carbon pro and the #1 or #10 plate on the side, if you are, you are fast as hell! Anywho, let me know next time you go up there, i ride an 02 CRF450, with the #8 on the side if you see me up there, let me know who you are. You wanna head to budds this weekend? My other buddies were down there last weekend, they said it was perfect, they go up to NEMX also, the both ride YZ250F's, #7 and #5, they are alot fast than me though, i need to get back into shape, lol! Anywho,i hope see you up there.

I go to Nemx to watch my friends right now. Im hopeing to get my 05 450 this weekend. Never really rode a thumper b4, except putting around. Im not fast at all, just a mid pack b class rider (on a 2 stroke). that would b cool to come out to Budds Creek. Hopefully real soon. My friend owns a race track called Area 51 in Batavia, Ny. You probably seen a window sticker on a truck at nemx. i will e mail you when i go.

oh yeah, nemx is a 2 hr drive for me. I only get to go if i get out early which rarely happens. Budds creek is 8 hrs if i dont get lost. This requires camping. I put a vent free heater in my trailer, but its still way too cold to go this time of year. You gotta try area 51 this year. its a new track kinda built like red bud mx. you can walk under the track through tunnels. its less than 3 hrs from nemx. camping is allowed saturday nights

Yeah would definaly like to try that, out! You say your
not fast, i WISH i was mid pack B rider, im a mid pack
C, but i hope to get back in shape and be in B by the end
of the summer.

Anywho, about that track, i would like to come up and
check out, i see your are from buffalo, i have family up
there, they live in Orchard Park, right by Green Lake.
I go up there atleast 3 time a summer to hang out with
them. Have you ever had Antionettes ice cream, i love
that stuff, i wish we had one here in PA!

Before you use anything on treated lumber, you need to verify that the wood is dried out. Treated lumbar is "wet" when new. Just like a deck...the wood needs to dry before sealant can be applied (or any chemical for that matter) Drying time is dependent on age and atmosphere over time. Just make sure the wood does not feel "soft"...

Jut8 DUDE I live 5 min from green lake!! right down orchard park rd in west seneca. Do u trail ride? I wanna go to rocky gap and mearienville trails this summer. My friend knows ia guy in Bradford that has some sick enduro trails that would make Scott Summers sweat! Im off on weekends so maybe nemx on saturday sometime soon. Need to disassemble bike and grease and put some goodies on b4 I ride it.

Dude, thats freakin sweet. Yeah, we will definatly have
get together sometime. I would be up for doing some
trails for sure, NEMX is a definate though. My uncle lives
on Regalwood Dr. if you comming past the country club
toward bihrs convience store, make a right there, and
then and the another right about 3/4 of mile down that road, and they live on regal wood dr. My cousin actually plays hockey
for the west seneca wings hockey team.

Yeah we always go up there alot in the summer, atleast
3 or 4 times a summer, i took ride up there on my GSXR
last summer, it was sweet, but i never had the dirt bike
up there, so it would be cool to bring it up and do some
ridding up in buffalo.

I bought an enclosed trailer that had belonged to a lawn service. It had a stained PT plywood floor. Good old Porch paint (grey) was applied (2coats) along with some flat white on the walls. It brightened up the trailer, stayed up well, and was pretty cheap. It actually covered the oil type staining on the floor.
